Stourton Woods, our venue is at the heart of the Estate, made up of woodland, parkland and lakes and home to our herds of Red Deer – it is a beautiful ‘hidden gem’. Nestled within the shelter of the arboretum, on the site of the old peach house, sits the Safari Tent which has wonderful views down to the lakes and parkland beyond. This is available to hire for weddings, parties and corporate events – please contact us for more details. We are extremely flexible in our approach, even camping is available!
There are 3 self-guided trails for visitors to walk along ranging from 1km, 3km and 5km in length, these are all circular routes and are clearly waymarked around the estate. A number of wooden benches have also been dotted around the estate for visitors to take a breather and enjoy the views.
Our latest addition is the Round House situated in the woodland near the woodland parking area. This eye-catching agricultural building is a large circular dome of 30metres diameter. The calves born in the summer months make it their home and shelter in there over the winter time – and they love it! From May to October this venue is also available to hire for exhibitions, product launches etc. It has lighting (with the addition of a generator to power this) and water available nearby. We have held Artisan Markets in this building in 2022 and the venue worked perfectly. Please contact us if you would like to use this space as we have some great introductory venue hire offers in place at the minute.
There is a large parking area suitable for approximately 100 cars, this is easily accessible to buses and other large vehicles. Fully flushing toilet facilities are located next to the safari tent in the arboretum with disabled access and baby changing facilities available.
What's on Offer
Over the winter we close our venue and move our herds of red deer into their purpose built Roundhouse situated one side of the car parking area. They enjoy the peace and shelter offered by the surrounding woodland and their main food is sileage supplemented by a small amount of home grown barley!
The winter months are fairly bleak on the farm and we use this time to make any repairs, refurbishments and improvements to the grounds / safari tent venue.
