It was a bit 'parky' this morning in the deer park. Our deer calves finding a bit of sunshine under the trees.
Farmers are an essential part of the rural economy. Today we proudly stood beside farmers and all those businesses that are reliant on farming, at the Farmers Rally in London. Hopefully the government heard the strength of feeling and will change their current proposals that will have a devastating impact on farming families and rural communities - particularly in Lincolnshire.![]()

We have now weaned the calves from the hinds and given them all a copper bolus to keep them healthy through the winter months, this is particularly important after they have been weaned. Weโve also started to give them herb rich silage to supplement the parkland grass, although the warm and wet weather has certainly maintained good growth into the autumn. ![]()

Neve has been out feeding the deer early morning and checking on them โ who are understandably friendly when they see herโฆ or is it that she is bringing them their breakfast?

The deer are getting ready for the rut, we have separated the two main stags from the boys โ Winston and Harry and they are now awaiting their hinds so they can do the businessโฆ They are definitely ready for them there is quite a pungent aroma around them that apparently the ladies quite like! ![]()

The boys have had their antlers removed, this is just like cutting toe nails just a bit longer & stronger. Neve made her own shield and got in on the action with Antony, and over 2 days all 50 boys have had the weight lifted off their heads and are prancing around the parks.![]()

We remove the antlers to protect the deer and ourselves from any exuberant behaviour and it ensures we have a ready supply of natural antler dog chews. If youโd like one of these, we have a great selection of sizes โ please get in touch!
Lovely to welcome the Horncastle running group for a scenic 5km today - now refuelled with coffee & cake from Nomad Coffee Company & venison to take home - open until 4pm with FREE mini farm safaris running every hour ๐ฆ๐๐ช๐
With harvest safely in and having bid a fond farewell to both Dan and Oli who have moved onto pastures new, we have turned our attention to drilling the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI scheme) plots. ![]()

These have been sown with wildflower mix and winter bird food and will form quite a large area of our farmland for the next 3 years. This is all part of our plan to move to a regenerative agriculture system. We recently purchased a Horsch Avatar, a direct drill where the land does not require working prior to the seed being planted and is a key bit of kit for a 'regen' system.![]()
