How can I be sure your logs are dry/seasoned?
Absolutely sure! All our timber is now kiln dried at the farm at Baumber before being graded & bagged ready for delivery.
What size are your logs?
All logs are cut to 10”/25cm lengths which suit most log burners.
What type of wood are they?
We only use premium hardwood species such as oak, ash, sycamore. We do not blend these with poor species (lime/alder/poplar) or softwoods.
How heavy is a bag of logs?
We do not sell logs by weight, only volume. The large builders bags are 900mm cubed (0.7 cubic metre). Beware of buying logs by weight, wet logs are very heavy and you could be buying a lot of expensive water!
When will you deliver my order?
We make deliveries twice a week, normally on a Tuesday and Thursday but may include additional days during very busy periods. We will ring you to advise which day and approximate time of delivery which is normally be within 2-3 days of receiving your order. We try our best to deliver within a given half hour slot as our customers appreciate not having to wait in all morning or afternoon. We deliver using a small van which allows us access to most drives so we can leave the product as close to your house, garage or garden as possible. Products delivered in bags are left in the bags; due to health & safety we are unable to move the bags once they are on the ground and we do not offer a log stacking service.
What happens if I am not at home when you deliver?
We are quite happy to deliver your products even if you are not at home, just let us know exactly where you would like the delivery leaving. If you have not already paid we will leave the invoice and you can make payment by BACS or send a cheque in the post.
Can I collect my products?
Unfortunately we are not currently accepting collections of our products from the yard as the forklift is often busy with other jobs during the working week.
How can I pay?
You can order and pay by card online or select ‘pay by cheque’ at the check-out. You will be requested to make your cheque payable to Stourton Estates Ltd and write your home address on the reverse of the cheque. The order will be processed on receipt of the cheque. You can also order online & select ‘pay by Bank Transfer’, full bank details are given at point of ordering. Alternatively you are able to order online & select ‘payment on delivery’ which will generate your order, we will then be happy to accept either your cheque or cash upon delivery. If you wish to phone us with your order rather than place it online please contact us on 01507 578236.
What happens if I am not happy with the product/delivery?
Please ring us as soon as possible if you are not happy with any aspect of our products. The office is not always manned but we do have an answerphone for you to leave a message or a mobile number to contact out of hours.
Our aim is to deliver quality products and provide an excellent level of service as we would like you to re-order and recommend us to friends and family. We always appreciate any feedback on how we can improve our products and services.
Are you dog friendly?
Yes you are very welcome to bring your dog(s) on a lead along with poo bags to dispose after them responsibly in bins in the grounds.
Are you accessible to wheelchairs?
We try very hard to be! There is a wheelchair accessible path from the woodland car park to the safari tent in arboretum which also has disabled toilet facilities. Our Deer safari trailer also has an elevated platform so that is also wheelchair friendly. However, as we are a working farm, most of the trails are across grass, through woodland and uneven ground so unfortunately we are not entirely wheelchair accessible particularly in wet / muddy weather.
We are struggling to find you the post-code we have hasn’t taken us to the right place?!
This is a common problem with sat nav systems as they all seem to work differently unfortunately and the post-code covers such a wide area. We are only accessible from the A158 the main road running from Lincoln to Skegness. You maybe best to use the What 3 words location for Clays Lane Entrance off the A158: racks.elephant.vessel and the woodland car park just beyond here is commutes.upwardly.shampoos. There is also a map here
Do you have any toilet facilities?
Yes we have three fully flushing toilets, one disabled with a baby change in it, in the grounds next to the safari tent in the arboretum. There is a map of where to find these on the gate opposite the parking area – follow the festoon lighting and it leads the way!
Is there anywhere serving food on site?
Yes there is normally at least one vendor on site selling refreshments at our open days. At larger events we normally have a selection of Lincolnshire produce available to suit a wide range of tastes and dietary requirements – this does vary from event to event however, please check our social media pages or contact us at contact@stourtonestates.co.uk if you’d like to know in advance what’s on offer!
What times are you open?
We are open from 10am to 4pm for most of our open Sundays and events, other times are published on the details for that particular event. Please have a look on our event pages for more information.
How do I receive my ticket / booking?
A booking confirmation email will be sent at the time of booking and this booking confirmation email serves as the ticket for the event. Please enter your email address carefully and if you don’t receive confirmation of your booking please check your junk mail and email contact@stourtonestates.co.uk if you really don’t see any sign of it.
I don’t have a paypal account but I want to place an order through your website, how can I pay?
Whilst our payments are processed through Paypal you don’t need a paypal account in order to pay by debit / credit card. Simply add items to your basket and enter the required details before clicking proceed to paypal where you can select ‘Pay by debit or credit card’ and enter your details.
Will the event be cancelled if the weather’s poor?
Rain, temperature or low winds won’t cancel our events unless they are considered to be a safety risk to guests, staff, or equipment. Visitors should always dress with the weather and time of year in mind. Anyone who is unable to attend or who chooses not to attend an event because of predicted or actual weather is not eligible for a refund if the event goes ahead as planned.
In the event that is necessary for us to cancel an event we will notify guests using the email used to book the tickets and post a notification on our website or via social media or by a combination of the above.
Stourton Estates will not be held liable for any incidental costs that occur as a result of cancellation including but not exclusive to costs relating to: travel, hotel, restaurants or food and drink purchases. We reserve the right to cancel events for any reason.
Can I have a refund or change my ticket?
Once purchased, unfortunately it is not possible to alter any detail on the tickets; including (but not limited to) event title, time, date or ticket holder name.
Refunds are only available in the event of a total cancellation where the event cannot be rescheduled and where the transfer of tickets to other events is not possible. Refunds cannot be authorised by event staff and all enquiries should be emailed to contact@stourtonestates.co.uk. All authorised refunds for tickets made via the website will be made within 14 days of the cancelled event to the card with which the payment was made.
I’ve come home without my child’s wellie, left my jumper, lost my sunglasses can you help?
We do occasionally come across items left on the estate, please do get in touch with us on contact@stourtonestates.co.uk and we will try to locate your item and arrange collection! Anything left here for more than 1 month will be donated / disposed of.
Vehicles and guests’ property are brought to the event site at your own risk. Stourton Estates does not accept responsibility for any loss, damage or theft of any item. We will not be held responsible for any damage or loss of guests’ property howsoever caused.
