Winter jobs continued across the farm throughout December. The cattle shed is being mucked out, with manure saved ready for spreading next summer. Heavy rain has paused beet lifting until January. e![]()

While most of the team enjoy a Christmas break, Antony and David will be feeding the stock and chickens and keeping everything ticking over.

With winter settling in, both calves and hinds are now safely housed in the roundhouse for the colder months. It’s always reassuring to see them settled and comfortable as the seasons change.

We were sad to say goodbye recently to one of our oldest and most affectionate hinds, Blackie. ![]()
![]()
She joined us, in calf, back in 2012 and produced many well-natured calves over the years. As she aged and lost several teeth, we fed her barley by hand until nature took its course. Always comfortable around people and keen for a scratch, she’ll be fondly remembered by everyone here at Stourton.

Recently we have successfully passed the ‘Ready to Burn’ Woodsure accreditation. This scheme ensures that our logs have a moisture content of less than 20% ensuring that they are easier to light, burn more efficiently, produce more heat, and are kinder to your appliance and the environment.![]()

We have also passed the @red_tractor_farming whole farm assurance scheme audit. This means that the food you buy has been responsibly produced and you can be sure it comes from crops and animals that have been well cared for.
